Color of the Month -July 2025

What does yellow mean to you? For me, yellow symbolizes a hot sunny day when the sun is so bright and streaming down on my face. Yellow also reminds me of the stars, joy, being bold, and enjoying blooming dandelions against the green grass in the summer.  Beautiful yellow bees and yellow butterflies begin frolicking about during the warm summer months.

Looking at yellow reminds me of the joy and gratitude that I have in that moment, and it helps me shift my thoughts positively throughout the day. My personal experience with yellow has been a major support during difficult times. I can’t help but smile when I see it.

July feels like the perfect time to reflect on the beautiful healing qualities of yellow as it is a bright and warm time of the year that fully embodies this color. This article will cover the benefits that yellow can bring into your life by exploring feelings that it invokes, connection to the solar plexus chakra, the power of yellow plants/flowers, foods, and crystals/gemstones.

Emotions and Feelings Yellow Evokes/ Solar Plexus Chakra

Yellow is mainly associated with the Solar Plexus Chakra. “The third chakra, the solar plexus or Manipura chakra (Sanskrit word), is close to the belly button / navel area. The Sanskrit name, Manipura, means “lustrous gem” or “city of jewels,” emphasizing its radiant yellow energy

“The color yellow, the fire element, and the chakra’s location within the human body all contribute to the yellow chakra meaning and energy. This chakra is responsible for personal power, self-esteem, and a sense of purpose

An underactive Solar Plexus Chakra can lead to feeling deprived of recognition, aloof, feeling isolated, afraid to learn the new, and psychosomatic problems (Ted Andrews, How to Heal with Color). Yellow color therapy can help bring it back into balance.

It is strongly tied to mental activity, awakening and intellectual powers. Yellow promotes confidence and optimism which is like the warmth of the sun (The Healer’s Manual A Beginner’s Guide to Energy Healing for Yourself and Others, Ted Andrews).

Healing Yellow Plants/Flowers

I’ve been working closely with yellow by surrounding myself with various yellow flowers to keep that burst of happiness present within the main areas of my home that I’m frequently in. “Given the light and energy of yellow flowers can radiate, they are appreciated as the perfect therapy and can help in alleviating mental health issues through the reduction of stress or anxiety levels or intensity (https://thursd.com/articles/brains-respond-yellow-flowers).”

“Yellow flowers are believed to stimulate your mental activity and subsequently inspire creativity. Given that yellow roses or summer flowers are attention-grabbing due to their color, they enhance your focus, while encouraging you to be innovative with your tasks. The inspiration to be creative is simply linked to the positive energy and feel-good ambiance associated with yellow flowers. Yellow flowers can make you alert, creative, and inspired to do more and be more

“When presented as a gift, the yellow rose can symbolize many things: friendship, loyalty, faithfulness or even forgiveness. It can be used to express admiration for someone’s spiritual journey or simply as an expression of support during difficult times. In some cultures it may also represent fertility and new beginnings – perfect for couples starting their own families or embarking on new ventures together! The symbolism behind this beautiful flower goes beyond its physical appearance; its meaning is deeply rooted in history and culture around the world. For centuries, people have looked upon this flower as a sign of hope and renewal; its bright hue reminding us that no matter what challenges we face in life there will always be something positive waiting just around the corner

“Lemons, with their bright, zesty energy, have been valued for centuries for their incredible medicinal and spiritual properties. Known for their cleansing and revitalizing effects, lemons support physical health while also promoting clarity, protection, and positive energy. Whether used in healing remedies or spiritual rituals, lemons are a powerful tool for purification and renewal

Yellow Foods to Consider

Yellow colored foods also serve as beautiful reminders to keep the positivity in items that I’m ingesting into my body as well. I will continue to work closely with colors to help with my healing efforts that support my physical and mental health at the same time.

“The Solar Plexus Chakra thrives on yellow energy, so include bananas, pineapple, and lemons to boost confidence and personal power

“Digestion is associated with yellow foods, which represent your fire. Fire also represents power, transformation, and energy, mirroring what is happening with digestion

“Yellow fruits that help your fire burn brightly and support your digestive system include: bananas, pineapple, yellow summer squash.

Examples yellow vegetables that support your fire and digestion include corn, ginger, lentils, yellow split peas, yellow bell peppers, Yukon gold potatoes, and yellow string beans. Whole grains can also support digestion and your yellow fire. Amaranth, brown rice, corn meal, millet, polenta, quinoa, whole grain breads, and whole grain cereals are options that are fiber and nutrient rich and can help support proper digestion and your fire

Yellow Healing Stones/ Gems

Citrine, honey calcite, topaz, amber, bumblebee jasper, agate

I enjoy wearing a citrine yellow stone on me as jewelry or I like to wear a clothing item with a hint of yellow in it.

“Yellow crystals are known for their striking and vibrant appearance, which draws the eye and captivates the soul. Their sunny disposition radiates positivity and hope, making them a popular choice for crystal enthusiasts seeking to infuse their lives with joy and brightness

Conclusion

I will continue to rotate between colors depending on what I’m trying to align my day with based on the moods that are happening. Yellow is a truly powerful and healing color that can easily be implemented into your daily routine. Yellow is a very uplifting color but it should also be used sparingly because having excessive yellow energy can be overstimulating, potentially causing nervousness and excessive thinking (Ted Andrews, How to Heal with Color). Implementing yellow into your life can start small with a few food items, a yellow scarf, or a citrine necklace just to name a few. I also enjoy spraying a citrus room spray to remind me of lemons wherever I am to take a quick sensory trip back to yellow. These are a few tips on how to get started. I hope that you enjoy connecting with yellow and implementing mindful practices to continue to evoke the full essence of the color.
